    Call for Papers

The Program on Mediating Theory and Democratic Systems (MTDS) at Wayne State is a William and Flora Hewlett Foundation Center established for the study of dispute resolution theory. The Wayne State program, situated in the College of Urban, Labor and Metropolitan Affairs (CULMA), is designed to foster new theories and research on the increasingly complex problems of social conflict and conflict management among ethnically diverse peoples.

As part of its program activity, MTDS continues to develop and host the Working Paper Series in order to disseminate scholarly writings and "works-in-progress" to a diverse audience of students, scholars, and other research centers. National and international scholars, as well as summer grant award recipients, contribute regularly to the Working Paper Series in order to provide a wide range of materials relating to dispute resolution, mediation, and ethnic, racial, and gender conflicts.

Those interested in submitting a paper for inclusion in the Series should send one paper copy and one electronic copy to Michael Alandu, MTDS, 3198 F/AB. Electronic copies can be sent via e-mail to ak0360@wayne.edu.  Inclusion in the Series does not prejudice publication. Papers accepted will be made available on-line through the MTDS web page.

    Sample of Working Paper:

Institutional Effectiveness, Socio-Political Instability and Military Spending in Developing Nations: A Model of Internal Threat
